OUR SERVICES



Archaeological and historic preservation regulations are now encountered at the federal, state, county, and city level. As consultants, we strive to help clients understand these increasingly complex cultural resource issues, and we provide the creative solutions required to deal with them. BAI offers the total range of archaeological and historic preservation consulting services. Our rapid deployment field capabilities are well established within the industry, and our services satisfy all current local, state, and federal guidelines.

At BAI, we also combine professional objectivity, local understanding, and highly developed collaborative skills to produce sustainable solutions for any cultural institution or museum. At Bland and Associates, Inc. (BAI) we place the strongest possible emphasis upon responding to our clients' needs and maintaining steadfast lines of communication. We work with individual clients, corporations, land planners, engineers, on-site managers, and attorneys to coordinate all project activities. We identify potential problems long before they become an issue, and we notify you immediately.

We also have open lines of communication with regulatory agency personnel, with whom we share excellent relationships. Emergencies are responded to swiftly, and our project managers are on call 24 hours a day. Our professional reputation is based upon our ability to respond to our clients' needs, and we employ the latest telecommunications technology to ensure that their needs are met. We seek motivated, skilled individuals with positive attitudes to fulfill our employment needs. We are committed to recruiting the brightest college graduates, as well as seasoned professionals, who are dynamic, team-oriented individuals, willing to step up to a challenge. Applicants must be in good physical condition and should:

  1. Be able to walk long distances in adverse terrain, dense vegetation, and inclement weather conditions, while carrying all necessary supplies and equipment;
  2. Be able to withstand challenging field conditions and the physical demands of digging, reaching, and bending;
  3. Be able to work well with others and to travel to remote locations as needed;
  4. Be eligible for employment in the United States;
  5. Be able to follow safety and security programs, standard operating procedures, and instructions;
  6. Possess reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
The following specialized skills are also sought:

  1. Computer skills, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access; GIS; CAD; and Surfer;
  2. Research, writing, editing, report production capabilities, and graphic design;
  3. Experience with surveying, cartography, GPS, or radio equipment;
  4. Lab skills such as lithic, ceramic, botanical, and faunal analysis;
  5. Knowledge of federal and state regulatory laws and compliance permitting;
  6. Technical sub-specialities, such as geoarchaeology and bioarchaeology;
  7. Personnel management, supervisory, verbal communication, and museum skills;
  8. Ability to bring projects to successful completion on time and within budget;
  9. Applicants for senior level archaeology positions must have a Master's degree in anthropology from an accredited institution (specialty: archaeology), satisfy the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards requirements (36 CFR Part 61), and have their Register of Professional Archaeologists (ROPA) certification.
